Toys versus
Collector Editions, Show Editions, & Precision Replicas
|
Toys: |
Items meant to be played with,
whether in the living room or out in the sandbox. Toys usually
have less detailed parts, have plastic wheels, and are lower
priced than collector editions or precision replicas. |
|
|
|
|
Collector Editions: |
Items not meant to be played
with, are mass-produced and represent a specific model of a tractor
that won't be replicated as a toy. Collector editions usually
have metal wheels, collector wording, special boxes, extra graphics
and paint schemes not usually found on toys. |
|
|
|
|
Show Editions: |
A special collector edition
produced specifically for an event, such as the National Farm
Toy Show or the Two-Cylinder Club Expo. Show editions usually
are purchased from the show itself and are ordered in advance.
Total quantities produced reflect the number of units ordered
by customers. Show Editions normally are packaged in mail order
boxes with colorful graphics on the boxes. Show Editions usually
have metal wheels, collector wording molded in, special boxes,
extra graphics and paint detail and represent a special real-life
tractor. Many show editions replicate a tractor that was produced
in very low quantities by the actual farm tractor manufacturer. |

|
|
Precision replicas: |
Precision Replicas are highly
detailed models meant for the serious collector. Precision Replicas
are higher priced than collector or show editions. Precision
Replicas may have wires replicating electrical wiring, lights,
working 3-point hitches, geared working steering, replica tires
patterned after Original Manufacturer blueprints, and are usually
produced mostly in metal and have few plastic parts. |
|
|
|
|
Prestige Series: |
Prestige Series replicas are
similar to Precision Replicas and are highly detailed but may
have many plastic parts included in the details. |
|
|
|
|
Custom-Built: |
Custom-built models are meant
for the serious collector and are usually hand built by skilled
people. Many custom-built models are produced in quantities of
less than 1000 units. Custom-built models can be the highest
priced models available. They may have wires to replicate electrical
wiring, details to simulate lights, levers, engine parts, geared
steering and realistic tires and wheels. Custom-built models
are usually built of cast metal with rubber tires and a few may
contain plastic parts is parts are available to the custom builder. |
